One of our clients, a world-leading supplier of Identification and Border Management Software Systems is looking for experienced Sysadmins.
Your role will be to:
Design, deployment and support for the server side of the system’s architecture and some limited configuration tasks related to the front-end workstations. S/he will be part of a team tasked to design, develop, and deliver turnkey solutions for the government domain, with customers world-wide.
You will be responsible with the development or customization of the infrastructure deployment scripts allowing the consistent install of the systems across environments and customers. During the process, you will sharpen your configuration development skills and learn the interactions of the software components. As the customer requirements evolve (e.g. from on-prem to cloud), you will be part of the team that provides the solutions in accordance to the new platforms (e.g. Azure).
- Proactively maintain and develop Linux/Windows infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service for our clients
- Maintain best practices on managing systems across all environments
- Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
- Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
- Implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
- Create and modify scripts or applications to perform backup tasks
- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
- Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
Responsibilities: Duties, and Tasks:
- Develop configuration scripts using Puppet and Terraform, modules and templates to automate the deployment of infrastructure, servers, databases, and applications.
- Participation in System Architecture planning and design
- Install, Configure and Deploy the system architecture components in the test environments:
- Apache, Tomcat install, configuration and support
- PKI infrastructure
- Active directory
- Samba
- MQ servers
- Participate in a mixt team for performance tuning and stress testing the systems.
- Support developers and testers
- Develop backup and recovery strategies
- Install, Configure and Deploy production systems on-site.
- Build monitoring solutions for the deployed systems and test environments, monitor system and proactively optimize system performance
- 3-rd level of support after deployment and 2-nd level of support during the post deployment stabilization phase. Diagnose and resolve assigned issues, participation in the deployment team for the bugfixes or systems’ upgrade.
- Train first-line support personnel
Required technical skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience as sysadmin
- Expertise with Linux or UNIX administration and with bash scripting. Strong skills developing bash scripts in order to automate/diagnose/solve system administration tasks
- Good knowledge of Windows Server is an asset
- Expertise using configuration management, deployment automation and continuous delivery tools such as Puppet or Ansible. Ability to build configuration scripts.
- Apache, Tomcat install, configuration, and support
- Strong communication skills in English
- Expertise on container platforms such as Docker is an asset
- Azure deployment skills and configuration management is an asset
- Willing to travel abroad 2-3 times a year
